Perspective Switch

I had the absolute pleasure of babysitting my adopted daughter’s baby girl yesterday as she and her fiancé celebrated her birthday. Lola is an absolute joy, filled with of laughs, well until she gets hungry or needs a diaper change. She’s alert and active for a 3 month old. Already cooing and talking back to you.
My son always questions when I stay home on a Saturday not realizing that my weekdays are often full or running to and fro and sometimes I like to just sit on my house. This Saturday he thought why are you babysitting again, lol. He had no idea that I already knew that spending time with her would bring me joy. What I didn’t know is that my saying yes brought joy to my house. My son came back to me and told me thank you for showing him how to have happiness in life in the simple things, spending a quiet day with a loved one. Life doesn’t always have to be on the go for it to be enjoyable. Sometimes doing nothing but being in each others presence makes all the difference. There was a perspective shift. After watching her all afternoon, he became entranced like the rest of us at her easy smiles, laughter and how she would talk back to you. What difference a happy baby makes.
I am reminded this morning that this experience is no different than life itself. Many of us experience a perspective shift after an event occurs. Philippians 2:5 reads: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (KJV). Some things that were important, are no longer important. The impossible becomes possible.
I remember many years ago when my mind changed on what I believed God could do for me. In the midst of reading something, God had me really look at the word impossible. He separated it into two words “I’m” and “possible”. I heard Him say in that moment “I am possible”.
Even in the thought of what God couldn’t do, He corrected my perspective to see that all things are possible because He is able to do exceedingly more than we think possible or can imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
It’s our perspective on what God can do, what He will do. Not to mistake this. There are things that God won’t do because it isn’t according to His will. Whenever we go to God to ask for something, we must ask according to His will. Now, once God says He will do something, then it’s up to us to accept, believe and trust that He will do it. It is up to us to bend our will to His. His will will not bend to ours.
If you take nothing else away today, take that God loves us enough to protect us which is why His will, thinking and ways are higher than ours. Take the time and spend more of it with God so that when your perspective shifts you’ll see that He’s unlocking a new door, a new level for you. My first time in an Eacape Room, I realized that I had to work with the team to solve clues to get to the next room/level. In this journey called life, God is giving us trials and tribulations (clues) to overcome (solve) so we can unlock the next level. Each time an issue comes up, go to God first and ask Him how you are to handle it and He’ll direct your path.
Be A Blessing and Not Just Blessed
